written by Everett E. Proctor
Session 26
| Date/Location | 1/8/2003 Memorial Union |
| Session Length | 270 min. |
| Attendees | Everett Proctor, John Richards, Sara Friedemann, Todd Jensen, Joe Powers, Steve Mading, Joel Uckelman, Mike O'Brien, Tim Achee |
| Games Played | Odin's Ravens, Wallenstein, Pacal, Drachenland, Attila |
| Summary | Good turnout tonight. John returned from his long absence due to the birth of his daughter. We also had a whole new family show up (I'm sorry, I've forgotten their names already). Unfortunately they should up right after we had started a game of Wallenstein, but it looked like they got to try out some of the other games we had around. I hope we see them again. Nothing new hit the tables this week, which seems like a first for the last couple of months. |
| Odin's Ravens |
| Played By | Everett P. John R. |
| Summary | John was the first one there (I suppose he was eager to play after his long absence (we've missed you too John, welcome back!)). So when I arrived, we played the new hot 2-player game, Odin's Ravens. The first two rounds were close, with John having a slight lead, but I had a huge third round, jumping way ahead. This was in part due to John forgetting one of the rules and only playing a total of 3 cards, instead of 3 from his hand plus 3 from his auxillary stack. We called the game after three rounds so that we could start a larger game with the people who had arrived. |

| Wallenstein |
| Played By | Everett P. John R. Sara F. Todd J. Joe P. |
| Summary | Since Bill was gone on winter break, and John hadn't played it before, I brought Wallenstein. We did the full set-up procedure for the first time this game, instead of using the pre-selected countries. I was able to get most of the western part of the map, with only a couple of John's provinces to compete with. Most of John's and Todd's provinces were fighting each other in the east, and Sara and Joe fought over the middle. I benefitted greatly from my relative isolation. The first year was a harsh one, with everyone loosing 7 grain, and everyone having to face revolts. I ended up losing the most, 2 provinces, but had gained so many that I was still in the lead in provinces, and also had the most palaces in 2 regions to take a large lead. During the second year Sara and Joe both started attacking my provinces, but was not able to overcome my initial advantage. |

| Pacal |
| Played By | Everett P. John R. |
| Summary | We had a few more people show up while we were playing Wallenstein, so after that we broke up into 3 groups. John had to leave soon, so he and I decide to try a quick 2-player game. This is one I saw on his game library, and had wanted to give it a try. John had played the game a couple of times before, but had gotten the rules wrong each of those times. It is similiar to Rack-O, where each player is trying to arrange their cards from low to high on his pyramid. It has a bit more strategy involved as each turn consists of a player offering 2 cards to his opponent, one card that the opponent places on his pyramid, the other one he plays on his own. It's a difficult game to grasp what will work, and I'm not sure that my beating John 3 rounds to none had anything to do with skill or was pure luck. |

| Drachenland |
| Played By | Sara F. Joe P. Steve M. |
| Summary | John had been bringing Aladdin's Dragons since Sara and Joel had never played it before, so Sara finally got her chance to try it. The little bit I saw of this game, it looked like Sara was using a lot of spells, but didn't have the right combination of gems to pay for her Treasures. Joe had a large lead by then anyway, and I didn't see how he accomplished this. |
| Winner(s) | Joe P. |
| Finish | 1-Joe P. (7) 2-Steve M. (5) 3-Sara F. (5) |

| Attila |
| Played By | Todd J. Joel U. Mike O. |
| Summary | Todd had recently puchased Attila and wanted to give it a try. I didn't see enough of this game to comment on what happened, besides the final scores. |
