Age of Mythology
Played ByDerek M. Brett M. John R.
Game Length180 min.
SummaryI had read the online rules to this game, and immediately wanted to own it. Though most Eagle games have cool components, they all seemed to run longer than I liked, and this one seemed to condense the excitement down into a reasonable amount of time. I wasn't disappointed - although there's a decent amount of luck, the game plays well. Derek had the early army lead, so Brett and I took some time to build up our own armies and beat him down. I suffered more than Brett when fighting Derek, and Brett ended the game with the largest army. A good scramble in the end game by Derek tied me for most buildings, and poor planning on my part left me with no way to undo the tie at the end. I'll definitely want to play again - though building armies early is wise, there's a limit to how much they can help you (I couldn't knock Brett's army down as he refused to fight me near the end).
